Who Is Ms. Cox?

Hello Everybody! I am Audrie Cox, or as some of you may know me, I am Ms. C. I am a Western Michigan Graduate with a degree in Mathematics and English Secondary Education. I have always had a passion for math, but I also love escaping to a new world as I read a good book. During my "free time"I spend time hiking or relaxing at the Lake Michigan with my two Australian Shepherds. I also enjoy traveling and photography. (Anyone curious can view some of my photos in the gallery below). From exploring the beautiful state of Michigan to flying across the pond, I enjoy capturing moments of learning about new cultures and seeing new sights.

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”- Jane Austen

My Teaching Philosophy:

First and foremost, I am an not an educator because of summer vacations or because I think it is an easy career. I chose a career in teaching because I have always had a passion for learning and helping others learn. I believe that the classroom is a living community. Everyone in the classroom is a student, teacher, and thinker. I hope to learn as much from my students as they learn from me. Therefore, I encourage students to share about news, school events, pop culture, and anything they find worthy to share with the class in order to promote a positive learning environment.

Also, I found in my high school career that lessons in one class were often confined to one class. As a Math Major and English Minor, I want to challenge this idea. Essays are not only for English classes while experimentation and research should not only be for Science classes. Students should take their learning from each class and utilize it to aid them in other studies.
